Take your dog in public is something you should consider. After all, your dog is part of your life. This is a much more modern owning a pet. In the past, dogs were either left to roam the streets at dusk, or chained inside the garden as a protection.
These days people with less to have children, pets are more like companions – who are with you wherever you go, and are an essential part of your life.
It helps if you've given your dog basic obedience training. Ideally, your dog should know how to sit, walk on a leash, and stay. In practice, however, this may not be the case, and you can always include your dog in your life. Just have them always on a track. If you go to a store that dogs do not welcome, and you're not sure what level of training was the dog, always attach the dog to a pole or fence. This way you ensure they are safe.
If your dog is really small, you may be like a doll is probably not the best thing.
You should be able to take your dog to your favorite coffee – just take one table outside and ask for a bowl of water for your pet. You have to be vigilant, because if you stay in any position of time your dog may become territorial. So if you have a long lunch, you will see that your dog starts to bark more to pass people and other dogs. This is because he thinks it's your new place to watch! If your dog is prone to this then try and walk more often and stop less.
If your dog wants to drive traffic, or barks at other dogs and loves to lick children, you may find you must use a muzzle. This should be a last resort because the other members of the public will think it means a muzzle of a dog is aggressive and they will be afraid.
You should always have supplies on hand set with your dog in public – if it's cold, you should have something hot for your dog – a coat or sweater. You could consider a bowl of water – you can buy others that fold up, or you can buy a water bottle that doubles as a bowl.
You also need plastic bags for "Scoop shit" if your dog do his business anywhere someone might step. And remember no treats for dogs. They make sure you keep control of your dog and can reward good behavior. If you are in public for a long period you can consider a bone or chew toy, even the bedding, so that when you stop for a break from your dog can rest too.
