Fun Dog Activities
Any breed of dog (http://www.dog-breed-facts.com/index.html) have been developed for a purpose. Some breeds have been developed for sheep, some to hunt game, and some to pull sleds. Dogs, like humans, enjoy having a purpose in life. Dogs love to lead a structured life and being able to combine their owners in the activities and the opportunity please their owner. What follows is a short list of fun activities you can consider for your dog.
Dog Agility is a sport in which a manager must control and direct his dog around an obstacle course in a period of time. Dogs must be controlled off leash using only voice commands and body language. The handler follows the dog and the dog runs through the obstacle course with precision and speed â € "Try to accumulate the minimum number of faults (both missed obstacles and time faults). Roadblocks include: frames, dog high walks, teeter totters, tunnels, jumps (such as hedges and tires), slalom (like a slalom), pause tables (where the dog must lie down to a fixed duration), and other obstacles. To be fair, there are usually classes of competition for dogs in group of similar size and experience. Therefore, there will be several winners in a competition. Dogs and managers must be well trained and seem to appreciate the sport immensely. There are a number of organizations involved in the implementation of agility in the world that sanction clubs to allow them to host agility competitions. In the U.S., some of these organizations include: the American Kennel Club (AKC), the United Kennel Club (UKC), States Dog Agility Association United, and American Dog Agility Council North. Dogs love to play the sport and puppies can be introduced to the sport of coursing through workouts. Competitions usually consist of two points for each dog breed for dogs which have been pre-certified or qualified. In the U.S., the American Sighthound Field Association or the AKC can € â € œcertifyâ that dogs have been trained and are allowed to enter their sanctioned competitions. In Canada, the Canadian Kennel Club sanctions coursing, but excludes the Italian Greyhound because they consider a stuffed dog.
