Training problems ….? Dog
I have a 1 years old German Shepard in one of my training classes, but he is afraid to walk in door. Nothing bad ever happened to him in the store or any store really. It is beautiful when he walks on the carpet, but freezes before he will walk on the regular floor. The only way that we can bring into the ring formation is carried out or drag him we do not want. Once he enters the ring, he is very good. I am sure it is the word that bothers him. It is just like any What other shop floor. We tried treating, cajoling, commands they already know, distract him, getting him all excited on the carpet balloons, all I could think of. We even tried steak! Any realistic ideas to help? I was a dog trainer for 3 years and never seen this problem this bad. Help!
The make a really good and then just keep walking. The dog needs to move past the floor shiney problem. Keep it moving forward, even if you feel you dragging him. Give treats when he is freaking out is just him think freaking out is OK. Once on the ground, stop and let him deal with it awhile and keep him from advancing. Stay calm and do not receive for all excited. Good luck.
