dog training tunnels
How do I train my dog for agility competitions?

I have a Lagotto Ramangolo (strange name I know …) They are best known Sweden. These dogs are known for truffle hunting mushrooms () in Italy and also well known for its agility. So I took the most sharp increase in my dog is 47 inches and is 17 inches tall. I know that it jumps high because when my nephew comes she jumps a bit more head because she gets too excited. Then I measured and got 47 "Now, my problem is that … I bought a lot of obstacles Agility … As the closed and open tunnels, swings and PVC poles. (sticks, she jumps over ..) Oh and the hoop. She does everything perfectly, except the PVC poles. I do not know how, but she does not jump over them … How can – I train her to do?

1. Immediately stop jumping 47 inches (or anything higher than 20 inches). This increases the likelihood of injury to your dog. In addition, you are training her a dog agility terrible. Good riders do not jump, they jump around and try for about 1 inch above the bar. And you will not to jump over 20 inches (and probably less, because if your dog is not 17 inches at the withers / shoulders you will probably jump 16 inches). In agility that you never try to see how high your dog can jump – it's a terrible idea and reduces the ability of your dog in the sport. 2. I suspect the "sticks" you speak of are actually stick-in-the-ground weave poles. 3. There are about a gazillion Things to do before you start to obstacles. That's the irony – ANY dog can be an obstacle, they are easy to train. And the obstacles are the least relevant part of agility. The irony is that the real work of agility occurs between obstacles or disable them. – If you are not savvy clicker, become familiar with it and get your dog clear what the clicker is used and when (timing is everything). – Make sure you obey the cold. – Startup behavior shaping. This makes the training of all contacts and weaves a wink. – Work on the towers. They are very valuable warm-up activities agility and conditioning and you'll end up using many of them on the agility course anyway. – Getting Started on the work of grading and circle. There is no agility obstacles. You should be able to run in a circle 20 feet with your dog without a leash and she runs with you to heel – not distracted, not behind or ahead. With her outside the circle, then inside. Then practice front and rear by crosses that you work circle. If you can not do all the stuff I mentioned above, you should stay off the barriers. I know is tempting you want to get on the barriers immediately. But as any experienced agility competitor you say, this is not the obstacles. As for training it, take a class from. You give him marks the end of confusion and a lot of benchmarks and misleading signals. This means that you train hate his agility and reduce confidence (which means it will perform poorly). Get an introductory class and get the basics down. How you give the reply at first, how to avoid misleading signals (you should be able to run an agility course and without using your voice or your hands to your dog knows exactly where to go), and how to build drive and focus.
