How can you train a dog to stop chasing cats?
I have a lab that loves chasing my cats all the time. How do I train stop?
Control hunting behavior can be difficult – the dogs are predators and hunt small animals is instinctive. If your dog is well trained, tell him to let 'it' or to call you when he zones in cats. If this does not keep a leash on him in the house so you can enter it if you need. You can put it in a time out when he drives (put in a small room for boring two minutes). However, you may need to hire a personal trainer to help you do this, especially if your cats are traumatized and / or wants hurt the cats, not just the hunt.
