Can you tell me some positive experiences you had with dog training collars electronic?
I know many people dislike not the idea of using the formation of electronic shock collars. But I also know most people do not know how to properly train their dogs resulting in the dog biting people, running away and getting hit by cars. Tell me positive stories.
In 43 years of owning, training, breeding and dog training, I used an electric collar once. We live on 180 acres, but you have a country road on two sides of the property. Our dogs are kept in our fenced yard unless we are working, playing or walking. My dog is only about 3 years. Has the agility and competition .. basic "obedience pet. It would come when called, would be the "heel" or "side" when he said, once released, would trot in front of me 50 feet or more, stopping and checking periodically to make sure I was yet to come. If I turned and walked the other direction, he turned too, running towards me. It would "wait until" when he said, and "down" at a distance when he is told. Other words, he was trained HIGHLY. I put a lot of time in him. And he knew what which was allowed, and "obey" Well, one day, about 3 years, as I said, he and my daughter's dog has launched a jack rabbit … and they departed. By the end of our property in the nearby orchard … they would not relinquish. For me, this is absolutely forbidden! Because it is dangerous. The rabbit could have run a different direction across the road …. So I borrowed a friend E-collar. Simply because I knew my dog this KNEW "Micah, come" meant. Took a week of walking per day until we launched another rabbit. He went his way. I called, happy voice in my normal "Micah, come !"… no response. Gave him another chance, "Micah Come! Stronger. No answer. Click the button, he stopped and jumped. Again, I said "Micah Come Again a happy voice. He came, I told him" Good Boy. "End of story. Never again. ….. But remember, I've used it because I knew he knew what" come " meant. It was just too caught up in the hunt and chose to ignore me. And by ignoring me, he could have killed. Micah is gone now. I lost to cancer in old age. Dear, sweet, fun buddy boy. I have a child 3 years now ….. British Columbia who have also invested heavily in training and continues the tradition of our walks. So far, it annulled immediately groound squirrels. I would never use an e-collar "training". I do not think it is fair or equitable to shock a dog if the coach has not already taught the dog "what to do "…. If I do not think I could control my dog off leash, I would not let my dog off leash, as I had not done my work.
