Dog Training: Common problems of Training House

In terms of dog training, house training is one of the areas of property a dog and one of the most common problems dog training that is most subject to misunderstanding, confusion, and simply afraid boy dog owners and even dog training experts.

In today's article in dog training, we will examine and learn how to deal with two of the most common problems surrounding the issue of house training your dog:

– Urination bid and excitement

– Scent marking behavior

Problem of joint training of the House # 1: urination Tender and excitement

What is a pisser "subject"?

A "Pee subject, in terms of dog training, a dog that urinates on the floor and himself (and sometimes you or guests you may have!) In situations of extreme excitement or stress, like when you go home at the end of the workday or when the dog is declared out of some bad behavior.

Why?

Puppies are the most usual candidate for the submission / excited urination, but it is not uncommon to see this behavior in adult dogs as well. Usually, they are very sensitive and timid dogs, and / or those of shelter / with a history of abuse (often these last two go hand in hand and one of the most common things we see as professionals dog training.)

When is it?

Situations that may trigger an arousal / fearful dog to urinate:
– Time vows after an extended absence of owner
Play time – where a dog is too excited
– The arrival of guests (guests including unknown)
– Stressful situations at home, for example, arguments about the owner
– During a correction behavior as you are saying out
– Sudden and unexpected loud noises such as thunder or fireworks

What can I do?

Fortunately that dog training experts will tell you, it is not difficult to prevent your dog from his urine to be submitted or excited.

First of all and most importantly, you should take it to the vet to make sure there is no known reason for the medical issue (such as diabetes or infection bladder hidden.)

Then it is time to make good use of dog training techniques to control the problem:

– Try to limit its water consumption to help control his bladder more effectively, it is very important. Do not limit its water consumption over a prolonged period of time, but if you know there is a future situation, which would normally result in a loss of control bladder, for example, you have guests coming over, or have decided to play a session soon take its water bowl away for a period of time (perhaps half an hour to an hour) before the event.

– When greeting your dog, keep warm and soft. The more excited he is, harder it is for him to control his bladder, he must not encourage them to get excited: ignore for first moments, or give him a very neutral "hello", a quick pat and sweet, and then go on to make yourself at home.

– It is important that you do not punish or severely correct your dog for this behavior. This is not something he can control more easily, and it is certainly not on purpose. Punish a dog for this behavior can cause emotional distress and cause more problems for you and the dog in the long run. When you catch in the act, you can stop it (an enterprise "No!" Followed by praise when he stops should suffice), but not punishment. Keep calm and try to be sympathetic: he does not want to do, after all!

– If the urine of fear (bid) when the scold him for another offense, try to take the stress level down a notch by keeping a firm, authority, but not angrily. Remember, you're dealing with a sensitive dog very nervous if you are angry or worry him further, the problem worse.

Problem of joint training House # 2: scent marking

In terms of dog training "scent marking is where the marks" a dog "in its territory with urine. Technically, this is not really a problem house training because it is based on the issues of dog training domination and territoriality rather than insufficient house training. A dog can be perfectly formed, but the house still feel the need to score inside the house.

However, because – since the problem centers around the unwanted presence of urine in the house – it seems logical, in a way, link this problem with house training. As this is one of the most widespread problems among dog owners, we as professionals Dog training thought it worthwhile to include some practical advice.

Scent marking and lack of house training: how to make a difference between the two

Your dog is more likely to scent mark their territory, rather than genuinely relieving himself, if:

– The amount of urine produced is relatively low, and tends to be directed against vertical surfaces such as doors, walls or furniture.

– If your dog is a male Unneutered and at least five or six months. dogs not neutered are much more territorial than neutered. If you have a dog not neutered in the house, you can pretty much expect a certain amount of scent marking as it defines its own fields. It should also be noted that unspayed females also mark, but it is much less frequent. Spayed and neutered dogs can also have a marking behavior, but it is relatively rare, but should not be rejected.

– It makes little difference how often he is taken outside for a toilet break

– He frequently targets items who are new to the home such as new possessions, clothing and Breakfast / shoes, etc. that are not exert some of its fragrance

– You live in a household of multiple dogs and there is a conflict between two or more of these dogs. In this case, it is a question of domination between the two and they can at both the mark.

– There are other, non-neutered or unspayed pets in the house

What to do about the problem?

From a dog training perspective, the first thing you need to do is to sterilize your dog (s) as soon as you can. If you can make enough early, ideally six months of age, often stops the mark entirely. If this is not possible or if your dog has been marking for a period of time, it can continue to do so after being spayed or neutered, since a model of behavior has been established.

Make sure to clean contaminated surfaces thoroughly. Use a cleaner with ammonia not, because just feels like pee, and stay away from vinegar too, it feels like to pee together. Oxi-Clean mixed with warm water is particularly effective on these areas and there are also many commercial cleaning products specifically designed to remove stains and odors pet, you can buy in stores pet and some supermarkets.

Because dogs tend to mark the same places again, you will need to redefine places you know he scored to prevent recidivism.

Many experts recommend dog training in the following ways to do this:

– Feed him next to or above the spot
– Play with him there
– Groom him there
– Put the bed above or next to him
– Spend time alone to spend time with a book or sit and work

Finally, a particular aspect of training dog that is often overlooked is that if there is a rivalry between dogs in the household. In this case you will need to take steps to resolve it. Any conflict is likely to be hierarchical in nature (a "power struggle"), which means that everything you have to do to end tension attention is that the dog seems to be more dominant than the other (that is eaten first, the toys will he / she wants, "look down "another dog), and strengthen this position to establish the hierarchy.

So how do you do? On training dog's perspective, it is relatively simple. First, feed the dominant dog first. Pet him first. Give him a toy before anyone else gets one. It is therefore clear to all dogs in the house where the dog is really dominant. When this hierarchy has been recognized by the place, and territorial behavior dominant scent marking as often disappear overnight.
